On September 19, Dean Takamichi Hosoda visited Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ Social Innovation Co-Creation Hub, “KAWARUBA.” During this visit, he exchanged views with Mr Junya Hara, Ms Mitsuyo Itami and Mr Yuta Hayashi from the Corporate Planning Division’s Innovation Department regarding the company’s future vision, innovation initiatives, the role of KAWARUBA and the potential for future collaboration with ABS. The visit also included a facility tour and a luncheon meeting, accompanied by Associate Professor Yuta Hirose.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries traces its origins back to the establishment of Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipyard in 1878 and adopted its current name in 1939 to reflect its diversification and business expansion. Guided by the company’s philosophy of “contributing to the nation – to society – through expertise,” the company has grown into one of Japan’s leading integrated heavy industry manufacturers, with businesses expanding into a wide range of fields including shipbuilding, aerospace, motorcycle, industrial robots and plants.
This visit provided an excellent opportunity to explore possibilities for future collaboration, including workshops where ABS students and alumni may visit KAWARUBA to discuss new business development and the creation of future innovations. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr Yuta Hayashi, a first-year ABS student, whose kind introduction made this visit possible. We are also grateful to Mr Kei Takei for kindly taking photographs of the occasion, which helped document this memorable visit. Building on this opportunity, we look forward to further deepening the collaboration between ABS and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
