On October 17, Mr Thomas Whitson, Chairman of the Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC) and Mr Trond Varlid, Program Director, visited ABS and held a meeting with Dean Takamichi Hosoda for an exchange of views. Associate Professor Mayuko Nishii and Associate Professor Yuta Hirose also attended the meeting.
JMEC was established in 1993 by the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ) with the aim of promoting the business expansion of foreign companies in the Japanese market and strengthening the skills of business executives. It is now supported by 18 foreign chambers of commerce in Japan.
JMEC’s main initiative is a practical and intensive training program offered to both Japanese and foreign professionals living in Japan. In the meeting today, both parties introduced their activities and held extensive discussions on potential collaboration between ABS and JMEC including opportunities for engagement with ABS students and alumni as well as possible cooperation through JMEC’s training programs.
This visit is expected to serve as a catalyst for future collaboration between ABS and JMEC.
