On February 13, ABS held the final presentation seminar and reception for its Overseas Study Seminar I in Seattle, co-hosted with the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington. We were honored to welcome Ms Misa Murohashi, Executive Director of the Society, and Mr Koichi Kitazumi who kindly served as Master of Ceremonies. The event was attended by board members and corporate members of the Society, faculty and students from the University of Washington Foster School of Business and members of the broader community in Seattle. From ABS, Dean Takamichi Hosoda, Associate Professor Yuta Hirose, Assistant Professor David Nichols and Assistant Kayoung Kim were in attendance. The event was kindly hosted with the support of Ms Diane Bulter, a board member of the Society, at the Davis Wright Tremaine Convention Center. Ms Diane Bulter delivered the opening remarks together with Dean Takamichi Hosoda.
With the Overseas Study Seminar I, participants worked in three groups to explore themes relating to global leadership and innovation. Building on prior research and analysis conducted in Japan as well as company, factory and university visits in Seattle, each group delivered its final presentation summarizing key findings and insights.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Assistant Professor David Nichols, a Seattle native and alumnus of the University of Washington, who reflected on the significance of the program and its future potential. Following this, Ms Misa Muroshashi, Executive Director of the Society, delivered final remarks, including an introduction of the Society’s upcoming initiatives. The reception that followed provided a valuable opportunity for dynamic exchange among participants and guests, making the occasion both meaningful and rewarding.
Following the final presentations, the Foster School of Business of the University of Washington awarded certificates of completion to all ABS participants and faculty.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ms Murohashi, Mr Kitazumi and all those involved for their generous support in making this event possible. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship with the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington and to expanding future collaboration in the years ahead.
